On October 11, Minister Yu Guangzhou and Vice Minister Sun Yibiao attended the China-Russia Joint Meeting between Customs, Port and Railway Administrations under the Heilongjiang Land and Maritime Silk Road Economic Belt and the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor in Harbin.

Minister Yu addressed the opening ceremony with insights on the current China-Russia economy and trade development. He said that the two countries should further strengthen the cooperation between customs, port and railway administrations to align the Silk Road Economic Belt with the Eurasian Economic Union, which will link the important junctions on the Trans-Eurasia Railway Network and further boost harmonious economic development in the region.

Minister. Yu made five proposals. Firstly, a cooperation mechanism should be established with the view to promoting connectivity. Secondly, trade facilitation should be improved with a clear direction of connectivity cooperation. Thirdly, infrastructure construction should be enhanced to lay a solid foundation for connectivity cooperation. Fourthly, information should be shared between the two sides to build a platform for connectivity cooperation. Fifthly, both administrations should enhance their communication with the business to build partnership of connectivity cooperation.

Vice Minister Sun Yibiao hosted the opening ceremony. Mr. Belyaninov, Head of Federal Customs Service of Russian Federation, Mr. Khandaev, Deputy Head of Federal Agency for the Development of the State Border Facilities of Russian Federation , Mr. Tsydenov, Deputy Minister of Ministry of Transport of Russian Federation, Mr. Zhao Guotang, Deputy Chief Engineer of China Railways Corporation, and Mr. Sun Dongsheng, Vice Governor of Heilongjiang Province attended the meeting and delivered speeches.

Over 150 representatives from customs, port and railway administrations and companies of the two countries attended the meeting.
