On January 9, officers of Khorgos (Huo’erguosi) Customs House (affiliated to Urumqi Customs District) found 15 packages of marijuana with a total weight of 4.9 kilograms from the luggage of 2 outward Pakistani passengers. This is the first drug trafficking case that Urumqi Customs District has seized since the start of the national anti-drug trafficking operation  codenamed “Violet Light”.

At around 16:00 that day, Customs officers found, while exercising control over the carry-on luggage of two outward Pakistani passengers,  15 black plastic bags wrapped by a pair of long johns. A task force was formed to investigate the case. And 5 suspects were arrested.
