Vice Minister Zhang Jiwen attends the 6th China-ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on SPS Cooperation held in Hanoi, Vietnam

 

 

From October 11 to 15, Vice Minister Zhang Jiwen, attended the 6th China-ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on SPS Cooperation held in Hanoi, and visited the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), Ministry of Health, and Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam, respectively.

 

The Ministerial Meeting was co-chaired by Vice Minister Zhang Jiwen and Mr. Nguyen Xuan Cuong, Minister of MARD. Several important cooperation documents, including the China-ASEAN Cooperation on SPS Action Plan for 2019 – 2020, Report and Recommendations of Co-Chairs of the 6th China-ASEAN Contact Points Meeting, and Joint Press Statement were reviewed and approved at the meeting. During this visit, Vice Minister Zhang also held talks respectively with Mr. Tran Thanh Nam, Deputy Minister of MARD, Mr. Truong Quoc Cuong, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Health and Mr. Tran Quoc Khanh, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, through which they exchanged views on a number of topics as the quarantine access of Vietnamese food and agricultural products to China, the renewal of the agreement on quarantine and health requirements cooperation, the reinforcement of the cooperation on food safety and standardizing the order of border trade. Vice Minister Zhang  also paid a field visit to the 6th Branch Office of the Department of Veterinary Services of MARD and its testing laboratory, as well as some Vietnamese dairy and rice production enterprises, in the company of Deputy Minister Tran Thanh Nam.

 

During his stay in Vietnam, Vice Minister Zhang also held talks with Ms. Yin Haihong, Charge d’Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam.
