Tourist souvenirs bought from abroad, if found violating the regulations on endangered species, will be intercepted by the Customs on entry. On May 3, Zhejiang Forest Product Testing Station identified that the 23 strings of wooden bead necklaces, which have recently been seized by Hangzhou Customs, are made of red sandalwood that is listed in Appendix Ⅱ of the “Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna & Flora” (CITES) and therefore restricted in entry or import.
