On March 27, Vice Minister Sun Yibiao met with Ms.Sarah Salda?a, Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Beijing.
Vice Minister Sun positively evaluated the practical results of China-U.S. Customs cooperation, and made five proposals on further cooperation. Firstly, to participate in the seventh round of China-U.S. Strategic and Economic Dialogue, using the high-level platform to promote practical cooperation. Secondly, to enhance the cooperation in information exchange, joint enforcement operation and training in the field of intellectual property rights protection. Thirdly, to reinforce the law-enforcement cooperation in anti-smuggling activities of narcotics, firearms and ammunition, endangered species and their products. Fourthly, to strengthen the cooperation under multilateral framework including the WCO. Fifthly, to boost the communication between overseas offices of each other.
Ms.Salda?a agreed with the above proposals, and added that ICE would intensify the cooperation with China Customs in promoting trade facilitation and security.
