Beijing Customs Transfers 76 Fossils and Paleontological Products to Natural Museum
04/10/2019

On March 27, Beijing Customs District transferred 76 pieces of fossils and paleontological products, which were seized and confiscated by the Customs in recent years, to Beijing Museum of Natural History.

Reportedly, these paleontological fossils covered such categories as Trilobita, Echinoidea and Lycoptera. The Customs reminds that, as per Chinese Regulations on Protection of Paleontological Fossils, carrying and posting paleontological fossils outward must be on the strength of honest declaration to Customs and the exit permit issued by the administrations of natural resources; otherwise, the outward carrier and poster without relevant approvals will be subject to administrative penalty by Customs and even to criminal penalty in certain criminal cases.
