Gongbei Customs Transfers 182 Cultural Relics to Zhuhai Museum
11/27/2016

On November 17, Gongbei Customs handed 182 pieces of cultural relics over to Zhuhai City Museum for better preservation. Those relics resulted from seizures of recent years  by the Customs over passenger-luggage controlling channel.

The seized relics included Buddha statues, porcelains, coins and paintings, valuable articles such as 3 blue-and-white fish-pattern pots, 1 Jun-kiln-made bowl, 3 Buddha-sitting statues, 1 vase of the Qing dynasty, and 1 Buddha head statue.

In the past, Gongbei Customs conducted many transfers of seized relics to cultural administrations, e.g. 3,749 pieces transferred to Guangdong Administration of Cultural Heritage in 2010 and 15,573 pieces to Guangdong Province Department of Culture in 2002.

As distinguished from previous treatment, the above 182 relics were all placed in Zhuhai City Museum. The Museum Curator Chen Zhenzhong was thankful to the Customs for supporting cultural heritage conservation, promising that the Museum will mark specific value on those relics and showcase them to visitors as soon as possible.
