On Feb. 23, Minister Yu Guangzhou held bilateral talks with Ms. Nicky Wagner, Minister of New Zealand Customs Service in the headquarters of China Customs in Beijing.

Both sides highly appreciated the trade relations between the two countries and the progress of cooperation between the two Customs that both the exchanges and collaborations are impressive. Minister Yu thereby proposed 5 points to further boost Customs cooperation: 1. enhance mutual connectivity in line with the Belt and Road Initiative of China and the Infrastructure Construction Plan of New Zealand; 2. better steer the bilateral cooperation through establishment of the mechanism of China - New Zealand Annual Customs Summit; 3. promote cooperation on trade facilitation, push forward negotiation on upgrading Free Trade Agreement, optimize electronic cross-checking system, and work towards an earlier signature of AEO mutual recognition arrangement; 4. strengthen collaboration on law enforcement and exchange experience on training of detector dogs; 5. upgrade cooperation on capacity building and share best practices with each other. Nicky Wagner expressed her willingness to actively promote cooperation in all fields between the two Customs and meet challenges with joint efforts.

Mr. Sun Yibiao, Vice Minister of the GACC, Mr. Zhang Guangzhi, Director General of the General Office and concurrently Head of National Office of Port Administration of the GACC, and Mr. John McKinnon, Ambassador of New Zealand, were present during the bilateral meeting.
