China-Italy Protocol Signed on Phytosanitary Requirements for Exporting Oranges from Italy to China

Under the witness of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Italian Prime Minister Conte, Chinese Ambassador to Italy, Li Ruiyu, and Italian Minister of Agricultural, Food, Forestry Policies and Tourism, Gian Marco Centinaio, signed the Protocol on phytosanitary requirements for the export of fresh citrus fruits from Italy to China between General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China and the Ministry of Agricultural, Food, Forestry Policies and Tourism of the Italian Republic in Rome, Italy on March 23.


This Protocol marked that Italy's unique blood oranges can be exported to China through sea and air transports, which will promote agricultural trade between the two countries and enrich China’s domestic fruit market.

 

During the visit, President Xi Jinping also met with Musumeci, President of the Sicilian Region of Italy, welcoming Sicily's agricultural exports to China.
