On September 27, Baiyun Airport Customs House (affiliated to Guangzhou Customs District) intercepted 195 live Astrochelys raidata and 8 lizards which were illegally brought in by an inward passenger.

That day at noon, when exercising control over a flight (Madagascar- Bangkok- Guangzhou), Customs officers found 195 live Astrochelys raidata and 8 live lizards that were hidden in the luggage of an inward passenger.

Astrochelys raidata is a species listed in the AppendixⅠof the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora(CITES). Trade in species included in AppendixⅠof CITES must be subject to particularly strict regulation.
