Gongbei Customs Supports Equestrian Industry in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area
04/01/2019

Customs officers quarantine the imported ponies.

On March 22, Gongbei Customs District issued the “Inspection & Quarantine Certificate for Imported Goods” to 6 ponies imported from the Netherlands, which have been quarantined for 30 days at Yintan Quarantine Station in Zhuhai City. The Customs officers then transported the horses to an equestrian park located in Shenzhen City, helping them settle in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

According to the Outline Development Plan of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, equestrian sports and relevant industries need to be supported for development in this Area. Therefore, Gongbei Customs provides support by optimizing clearance process for imported horses and improving local quarantine facilities.

The subordinate Doumen Customs House was in charge of the quarantine work. During the quarantine period, Customs officers made medical examination of the 6 horses once a week, including their sampling tests in lab as required.

For many years, Doumen Customs House has built Yintan Quarantine Station into a well-equipped, multifunctional quarantine station by explaining policies and providing technical support. Yintan Quarantine Station has passed the assessments by Hong Kong and Macao’s jockey clubs and expanded its businesses to European countries.

Doumen Customs Director Wu Yirong said: “We will further cooperate with Hong Kong and Macao Customs in the quarantine and clearance of horses, fodder and veterinary drugs, innovating in control models, so as to further develop equestrian industry in the Greater Bay Area.”
