On December 3, Minister Yu Guangzhou met with Mr. Matsobane Matlwa, Deputy Commissioner of the South African Revenue Service in Pretoria, South Africa.

Minister Yu commented on the friendly and cooperative relations between China Customs and South Africa Customs, and made four proposals on further strengthening cooperation in the future. Firstly, a working group should be set up for discussion of the working plan in order to jointly implement the Memorandum of Understanding between the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China and the South African Revenue Service signed by the two sides. Secondly, both sides should seize the opportunity to strengthen bilateral cooperation on capacity building, and increase the influence and effectiveness of their cooperation. Thirdly, cooperation should be enhanced in key areas such as trade statistics, AEO mutual recognition, law enforcement, information exchanges, and mutual recognition of control. Fourthly, the two Customs should promote cooperation under the framework of the WCO and the BRICS.
