Nanjing Customs Intercepts Live Quarantine Pest in USA Logs

Customs-intercepted quarantine pest — Lps pini (Say)

 

In Nanjing Customs District, the subordinate Changshu Customs House recently intercepted a kind of live quarantine pest in a batch of logs from the USA.

 

During the customs inspection, the officers found live forest pests in the barks of some of the logs. Through identification by Nanjing Customs laboratory for plant quarantine, the pests were confirmed to be Lps pini (Say) that is harmful to various host plants and can destroy the forest eco-system.

 

Under the field control of the officers, the quarantine over these import logs was completed efficiently on January 9, preventing the invasive pests from entry.
