On January 26, Vice Minister SUN Yibiao held a bilateral meeting in Beijing with Mr. Luc Portelance, President of Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and Mr. Martin Bolduc, Vice President of CBSA.

The two sides comprehensively reviewed the cooperation between China Customs and CBSA, updated the latest development of each other, and reached consensus in 5 respects to strengthen bilateral pragmatic cooperation. Firstly, to effectuate the Agreement Between the Government of the People’s Republic of China and the Government of Canada on Cooperation and Mutual Administrative Assistance in Customs Matters (hereinafter referred to as the CMAA) with least delay possible, set up a Joint Customs Cooperation Committee (JCCC) and designate work team and liaisons. Secondly, to strengthen administrative enforcement cooperation on key areas and facilitate expertise exchanges. Thirdly, to share experience in building Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) program and explore further cooperation in this field. Fourthly, to establish direct contacts between training departments and customs educational institutions of the two sides to boost capacity building cooperation. Fifthly, to increase communication on multilateral affairs.
