“The Government will pay the bill”. Zhuhai City is exempting foreign-trade companies from the charges on lifting, shifting and warehousing containerized goods if no problems are found out by the Customs during import and export processes, saving customs cost for the enterprises. As the first city to implement inspection service charge exemption, Zhuhai piloted the work with good effects. Over the past half year, 1,451 foreign-trade companies has get benefits and RMB2.8 million has been paid by the central government finance for those charges.
On the afternoon of July 8, a batch of toner cartridges used for laser printer to be exported to Russia received inspection by the Customs at Hongwan port wharf in Zhuhai. Through Customs inspection, the goods in one 20-foot container were confirmed “no problems found out” and then were released. The declarer for the exporter indicated that, due to the exemption, the company has saved relevant charges totaling RMB40,000 or so.
Inspection service charge exemption is intended to provide better customs service for foreign-trade growth. Zhuhai, one of the first pilot cities, formally started the exemption on 15 October 2015. From this April, the exemption policy rolled out across China, with applicable goods including those loaded in heavy containers and carried by container trucks. Currently, Zhuhai has 7 ports fitting the exemption conditions.
