Shanghai Customs Seizes Hemps in Oatmeal Parcels

Recently, Shanghai Customs announced a case of drug smuggling in postal parcel, in which over 1,300 grams of hemps were seized from three parcels in one batch.

 

On October 25, when examining parcel image by X-ray machine, the Customs officers stationed in Postal Office found three parcels abnormal through inward EMS channel. Later, the contents of the parcels were identified to contain hemps, totaling 1,382.13 grams. The officers found that the three parcels in similar package were all sent from one sender overseas at similar time and that the hemps were purchased by domestic recipients in the same way. Additionally, the hemps were put in vacuum package together with oatmeal for concealment.

 

According to the Customs officers, since 2016, Shanghai Customs has seized 25 parcels of hard drugs from postal delivery, accounting for over 80% of narcotics smuggling cases in Shanghai, totaling more than 70kg including cocaine, meth and hemp.
