12/15/2016

According to Zhanjiang Customs, since the Customs and local tobacco controller jointly set up Anti-Cigarette smuggling Office in 2014, the Office has investigated 50 cases of cigarette smuggling, up to CNY 4.388 billion in value, with 446,490 cartons of cigarettes destroyed in five times.

At the beginning of 2014, Zhanjiang Customs and Zhanjiang Tobacco Monopoly Bureau jointly signed an agreement to set up the bilateral anti-smuggling office in Guangdong province. Then they cooperated with each other in case investigation, resource allocation and countering action so as to give a hard blow to cigarette smuggling in west Guangdong.

In 2014-2015, both parties cracked the 7.16 series of cigarette smuggling cases, totaling more than CNY 3.316 billion and involving 15 smuggling gangs. The series of cases was listed as the biggest of 10 typical anti-smuggling cases announced in 2015 by the General Administration of Customs.
