On October 21, Minister Yu Guangzhou held bilateral talks with Ms. Lin Homer, UK Permanent Secretary and Chief Executive of HM Revenue and Customs in London. Both sides made positive remarks on the trade development and customs cooperation between China and the UK.
Minister Yu made six proposals on strengthening bilateral cooperation. Firstly, the two administrations should engage in the alignment of strategies of the two countries by stepping up dialogues and exchanges on customs policies. Secondly, cooperative mechanism should be improved to provide a solid foundation for cooperation. Thirdly, both sides should enhance cooperation in law enforcement and expand the range of cooperation. Fourthly, the two sides should launch cooperation on trade facilitation to promote trade security and facilitation. Fifthly, cooperation should be carried out in capacity building to improve reforms and management. Sixthly, the two Customs should actively take part in the World Customs Organization affairs and enhance coordination and cooperation under multilateral frameworks.
