On the morning of April 6, in Huangpu Customs District, a cargo ship with 5 electric cars “Tesla” from the USA reached Xinsha Port for the first time. On the import declaration, Xinsha Customs House finished the ship and cars clearance onsite within 30 minutes.
The imported cars were “Tesla Model S” dispatched from Baltimore, USA. As the importer hoped for immediate distribution to the domestic market, the Customs House, cooperating with other administrations, provided integrated clearance service as “seamless and accident-free” including advance/prior declaration, synchronization in unloading, inspection and release steps, to clear all the cars that day.
According to Xinsha Customs Director, Xinsha is the largest port of automobile import in south China, and the Customs House has firstly embedded the RFID technique into the clearance process to provide “one-stop” service covering declaration, certification and release at higher efficiency, with document numbers generated automatically and certificate issue time shortened by 83% at least. Now at this port, all declarations can be processed before the arrival of import cars and inspection or release can be made on their arrival, thus minimizing their stay time.
Customs officers were inspecting the first imported “Tesla” all-electric cars.
