10/17/2018

Customs officers examine the import racehorses in quarantine.

Till October 10, the first batch of 31 racehorses from Australia got through 30-day quarantine in a horse quarantine station under the supervision of Qidong Customs House in Nanjing Customs District; with the result qualified and Entry Quarantine Certificate awarded, these horses were then released to all parts of China.

On September 10, Qidong Customs and Shanghai Customs officers jointly finished the entry quarantine at Shanghai Airport and ensured the consistency between the horses and their documents for the follow-up 30-day quarantine.

With high attention to the quarantine supervision, Qidong Customs set up a special workgroup and a work plan in advance. Before the arrival of the horses, the Customs carefully inspected the facilities and sanitation of the quarantine station and provided professional training for the horse keepers.

During the period of quarantine, Customs officers made physical examination on the horses every day, keeping collaboration with veterinarians and keepers; the Customs also maintained video monitors over the station to supervise the safety of the horses.
