From July 20 on, Gongbei Customs began to harmlessly destroy more than 980 tons of smuggled frozen foods in Zhuhai City Garbage Power Plant, making the biggest scale of such destruction there in recent years.
All the frozen foods were seized from a foreign ship inward on September 14 last year, including over 66-ton duck feet and duck wings with unknown country of origin, as well as over 915-ton foods like beef tripe with labeled origins in the U.S., Brazil and Canada.
During the destruction process, the Customs implemented 2-person operational mode in loading, transport and unloading links, with the foods weighed through weighbridges at both the place of dispatch and the power plant and the transport vehicle escorted by 2 officers; additionally, the Customs made monitoring video of all destruction steps to ensure all the frozen foods destroyed in a harmless way, without the possibility of returning to the market.
Since 2016, Gongbei Customs has harmlessly destroyed about 1,400 tons of smuggled frozen foods.
