From June 11 to 13, Vice Minister Hu Wei headed a delegation to Laos.

Vice Minister Hu Wei held bilateral meetings respectively with Mr. Bounkhouang KHAMBOUNHEUANG, State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Mr. Bounpaseuth SIKOUNLABOUT, Acting Director General of Lao Customs Department and Dr. Phouthone MUONGPAK, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Health, during which they exchanged in-depth views on promoting cooperation in such areas as quarantine access for agricultural products and food, clearance facilitation, and frontier health quarantine between the two countries. Vice Minister Hu Wei and State Secretary Bounkhouang KHAMBOUNHEUANG also signed the Protocol of Phytosanitary Requirements for the Export of Watermelon from Lao PDR to China.

On June 12, Vice Minister Hu Wei attended the 17th Meeting of China-ASEAN Heads of Customs in Vientiane, Laos. Vice Minister Hu Wei updated the recent progress in China Customs restructuring and the development of cross-border e-commerce in China. He also exchanged in-depth views with Heads of ASEAN Customs on continuously cooperating in areas of jointly building the Belt and Road Initiative, expansion of customs facilitation cooperation under the framework of New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, anti-smuggling enforcement and capacity building, etc. On the sideline of the Meeting, Vice Minister Hu Wei also held bilateral talks respectively with Customs Heads of Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, Myanmar and Korea.

During his stay in Vientiane, Vice Minister Hu Wei also met with Mr. Jiang Zaidong, Chinese Ambassador to Laos.
