On September 5, Mr. YU Guangzhou, Minister of General Administration of Customs, met with Kristian Vanderwaeren, Administrator General of Administration of Customs and Excise of Belgium in Beijing.
Minister YU Guangzhou and Administrator General Kristian Vanderwaeren spoke highly of China-Belgium customs partnership. Minister YU Guangzhou put forward five propositions on future customs cooperation, including strengthening intellectual property rights protection by data exchange and enforcement experience sharing, implementing the Memorandum of Understanding Concerning Cooperation in Combating Smuggling of Endangered Species by putting in place an intelligence and seizure information exchange mechanism, further engagement in the China-EU Smart and Secure Trade Lane project by enlarging the coverage of ports, participants and trade routes, promoting clearance facilitation along the China-Europe Express Rail by adopting smart and secure locks, and deepening cooperation in cross-border e-commerce by sharing best practice. Administrator General Kristian Vanderwaeren fully agreed with Minister YU Guangzhou on his propositions and expressed his willingness to strengthen cooperation with China Customs at all fronts.
Minutes was signed after the meeting. Mr. ZHANG Guangzhi, member of the CPC Leadership Group of the General Administration of Customs, also attended the meeting.
