Chongqing Customs Seizes Critically Endangered Plants in Mail

Recently, Chongqing Customs, together with Chongqing Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, seized a batch of endangered plant seedlings mailed from Germany. Therein, three seedlings were identified “Euphorbia capsaintemariensis”, “Aloe sp.” and “Aloe plicatilis”, all listed in the Appendixes of the “Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora” (CITES), with “Euphorbia capsaintemariensis” as the critically endangered in its Appendix .

 

This case marks this year’s first seizure of such endangered plants by the Customs as well as Inspection and Quarantine Bureau in Chongqing.
