Jiangmen Customs Returns Over 4,700 Tons of Solid Waste Abroad
07/20/2018

Recently, Jiangmen Customs returned abroad 4,600 tons of restricted solid waste, referring to a batch of “hot-pressed iron powder” imported in the general mode by a trade company that’s based in Hubei Province. Through sampling inspection, the Customs identified the goods to be restricted solid waste, while the trade company had no Import License of Solid Waste.

Since this year, to prevent illegal imported waste, Jiangmen Customs has been carrying out the “Blue Sky 2018” campaign in a deep-going manner. Particularly, the Customs conducts strict inspection over containerized solid waste from the most-concerned countries and regions as per the “three 100%” inspection requirements, and intensifies supervision over Customs-controlled workplaces that are engaging in the import of solid waste, urging the involved enterprises to implement the declaration, application and registration procedures in strict accordance with relevant regulations.

By statistics, since the launch of the “Blue Sky 2018” campaign, Jiangmen Customs has seized 8 cases of smuggling illegal imported waste, involving 384 tons of smuggled waste, and has totally returned more than 4,700 tons of solid waste abroad.
