According to an announcement of November 25 of Hangzhou Customs District, 35.59 kilograms of fish gelatin were seized in inbound passenger luggage at Xiaoshan Airport Customs House on October 28.
In control of an inbound flight, the customs officers intercepted a passenger’s luggage with something abnormal in X ray and found 5 cartons of fish gelatin in the luggage.
Fish gelatin, an animal product, is banned as per China’s “measures on administration of quarantine of entry-exit passenger-carried articles” and “catalogue of animals, plants and their products prohibited from being carried or posted inward”.
The air-passenger above had no official permit or quarantine certificate, so the Customs House detained these fish gelatin for anti-smuggling investigation.
Customs reminder: inbound passengers, carrying the products listed in the “catalogue of animals, plants and their products prohibited from being carried or posted inward”, should be aware of entry regulations and must have relevant official permit of China as well as quarantine certificate issued by foreign authorities.
