Vice Minister Sun Yibiao Meets with Mr. Kulit Sombatsiri, Director General of Thai Customs

On March 17, Mr. Sun Yibiao, Vice Minister of the General Administration of Customs of China met with Mr. Kulit Sombatsiri, Director General of Thai Customs Department in Beijing.

 

Sun Yibiao conveyed Minister Yu Guangzhou’s warm greetings and spoke highly of the progress made in the economic and trade relations and customs cooperation between two countries. Sun Yibiao put forward five suggestions for future cooperation: to extensively participate in the “Belt and Road” initiative and deepen cooperation in mutual exchange of information, mutual recognition of inspection results and mutual assistance in law enforcement; to strengthen enforcement cooperation in trade security, combating commercial fraud and anti-smuggling of endangered wild animals and plants; to deepen cooperation in the framework of China-ASEAN and the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation; to push forward the negotiation of the Arrangement of Strategic Cooperation Between China Customs and ASEAN Member Customs; to deepen customs cooperation among China, Laos and Thailand and support the construction of Laos railway and the economic corridor of Indo-China Peninsula; to enhance collaboration and coordination in the World Customs Organization. Mr. Kulit Sombatsiri fully agreed with Sun Yibiao’s suggestions.

 

Both sides also exchanged views on mutual assistance in case investigation, mutual recognition of Authorized Economic Operator (AEO). The newly-appointed Thai Ambassador to China, Mr. Piriya Khempon and Deputy Director General of Thai Customs, Mr. Chaiyut Kumkun also attended this meeting.
