On September 23, Vice Minister Sun Yibiao met with Mr. Edward Troup, Tax Assurance Commissioner and Second Permanent Secretary of HMRC (Her Majesty Revenue & Customs) of UK in Beijing.

Vice Minister Sun spoke positively of the Customs Cooperation between China and UK, and made five proposals on further enhancing the cooperation. Firstly, to reinforce the cooperation on fighting against cigarette smuggling and illicit trafficking of counterfeit cigarettes. Secondly, to develop cooperation on intelligence exchange and repatriation of solid wastes. Thirdly, to explore port-to-port cooperation between the regional Customs of both sides. Fourthly, to facilitate the implementation of the Third Phase of China-EU Smart and Secure Trade Lane project. Fifthly, to deepen the exchange of reform experence.
