Kunming Customs Seizes Inbound Smuggled “Air-Plant Pineapples”
07/27/2017

Recently, Kunming Customs District-affiliated Mengla Customs, cooperating with Mengla Entry-Exit Inspection & Quarantine Bureau, jointly inspected an inbound vehicle carrying imported dendrobium fresh cut flowers and finally seized five boxes of undeclared air-plant pineapples from within the vehicle, totaling 8,460 plants weighing 120 kilograms, worth 100,000 yuan or so. This is the first seizure following the setup of Mohan Port joint  Customs and Inspection & Quarantine Bureau Cooperation Program in Mengla County, Yunnan Province.

Air-plant pineapple is the only plant that grows entirely in the air, without the need of soil.
