China and Kazakhstan Sign Protocols on Phytosanitary Requirements for Export Barley and Maize from Kazakhstan to China

On November 22, the 4th China-Kazakhstan Regular Prime Ministers’ Meeting was held in Beijing. During the Meeting, under the witness of Prime Ministers of the two countries, Minister Ni Yuefeng and Issayeva, Vice Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan signed the Protocol Between the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Phytosanitary Requirements for the Export of Barley from Kazakhstan to China and the Protocol Between the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Phytosanitary Requirements for the Export of Maize from Kazakhstan to China. The signing of the Protocols marked that Kazakhstan can export barley and maize to China from now on.


In recent years, with establishment of comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Kazakhstan, both sides have witnessed continuously expanding cooperation in the areas of trade and agriculture. To open market to the barley and maize imports from Kazakhstan is not only conducive to the economic and trade relations between the two countries, but also helpful to meeting the needs of feed production, wine-making and energy industries in China.
