Ningbo Customs Seizes 100kg Cocaine amid “National Sword” Anti-Smuggling Campaign


Customs officers count the seized lump cocaine.

On July 13, Ningbo Customs seized over 100 kilograms of cocaine in an inbound container, busting the biggest smuggling of illicit drugs in Ningbo this year.  


That day, through customs inspection, the officers found an inbound container of scrap copper concealing 3 travel bags that were filled with lump powders. Then, all the lump powders were tested to be pure cocaine, totaling over 100 kilograms. It was also found out that the container was earlier sent from South America and intercepted at Beilun Port on July 12. Now, this smuggling case is under further investigation. 


Since this year, amid the anti-smuggling campaign of “National Sword 2020”, Ningbo Customs has been cracking down on smuggling acts and crimes and has handled 661 such cases with a total value of 3.58 billion yuan.
