Qingdao Customs Quarantines 5,782 Breeding Cattle from New Zealand

On September 14, Qingdao Dagang Customs House finished blood sampling test on 5,782 breeding cattle imported from New Zealand. This batch of live cattle hit a record high in quantity of cattle import by single vessel into Qingdao.  

 

Before the arrival of the inbound cattle, customs veterinarians served in the designated quarantine station. They supervised relevant supplies, field fumigation and sterilization and provided professional training for the enterprise staff on site. During 45 days of quarantine period, customs veterinarians made blood test, daily clinical examinations on all the cattle to prevent animal epidemic and ensure their health in line with regulatory requirements.

 

After the quarantine period, the qualified cattle will be delivered to Gansu Province, Inner Mongolia and Xinjiang regions for poverty relief projects.
