Chengdu Customs Seizes 16.4-Tons Import-Banned Solid Waste in Freight Control
06/30/2020

On June 15, Chengdu Customs Technical Center identified a batch of import-banned solid waste that were declared as “aluminum materials” to Qingbaijiang Customs House on June 9.

The alleged “aluminum materials” were intercepted at the freight control site. Through out-of-box inspection, customs officers found the aluminum materials were waste and commingled with many other solid wastes including electric motors, wires, switches and parts, waste rubbers and plastics, totaling 16.4 tons, which are all prohibited from import.

Since this year, Chengdu Customs has been carrying out the “Blue Sky 2020” campaign against illegal inbound waste through tighter control on passengers, mails, express deliveries and freight transport. By now, the Customs has seized 11 batches of illegal inbound waste involving reprocessed plastics and used electrical products.
