On May 26, Vice Minister Sun Yibiao paid a visit to the customs fields in Houston Port of the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

Vice Minister Sun was briefed by the US Customs on the introduction of the supervision centers over petroleum, natural gas and mineral commodities respectively, as well as the reasons to set up the centers, the mandate, structure, operation, procedures and actual deliverables of the centers. Moreover, he also discussed with the US Customs on ways to guard against the risk in duty collection, division of powers and responsibilities, and coordination with the customs offices in the port.

Apart from that, Vice Minister Sun was also briefed on the introduction of the organizational structure, operational procedures, technology application and business data of the supervision over maritime cargoes by the US Customs. Besides, he also watched the whole process of the non-intrusive inspection through portable container scanners and the physical inspection by means of container opening.
