On November 24, 2015, Mr. Lü Bin, Vice Minister and Head of Guangdong Sub-Administration of the General Administration of Customs of China held bilateral talks with Mr. Pedro Miguel Perez Betancourt, Head of the General Customs of Cuba and Mr. Nelson Cordovés Reyes, Deputy Head of the General Customs of Cuba in Havana.
The two sides exchanged in-depth views and reached consensus on a range of areas, including effectively implementing the Agreement between the Government of the People’s Republic of China and the Government of the Republic of Cuba on Cooperation and Mutual Administrative Assistance in Customs Matters, renewing in proper time the Memorandum of Understanding for Training Cooperation between the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China and the General Customs of the Republic of Cuba, jointly pushing forward coordination regarding multi-lateral issues, especially the coordination and settlement of issues of mutual concern under the framework of WCO, further enhancing cooperation on combating violations of customs laws, and the procurement of and the technologies applied to the non-intrusive inspection equipments.
After the meeting, Vice Minister Lü and Mr. Cordovés signed the Minutes between the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China and the General Customs of the Republic of Cuba. Mr. Zhang Tuo, Chinese Ambassador to Cubaalso attended the meeting.
On November 25, 2015, Vice Minister Lü Bin paid a visit to the operation field of Cuba Customs in Varadero and was briefed on customs clearance procedures at port and risk analysis of Cuba Customs.
