Tianjin Customs Seizes 66 Smuggled Ancient Books

Recently, in Tianjin Customs District, Xingang Customs House seized 66 volumes of ancient books from within an outbound luggage transited by an outgoing passenger.

 

Through official authentication, all the ancient books belong to cultural relics. Therein, 13 volumes are banned from exit, including woodcut KangXi Dictionary and Rhyme Integration both compiled in Qing Dynasty period; 53 volumes subject to exit approval, including Collection of Poems of DuFu and Anthology of Classical Prose compiled in the period of the Republic of China (1912-1949).

 

According to the cultural experts, these relics, though not remote in age, are relatively well preserved to be valuable to the studies of Chinese history and culture.

 

 

  Smuggled ancient books were seized by Xingang Customs, Tianjin.
