Qingdao Customs Clears 3,941 Australian Cattle into Yantai Port
09/05/2019

A cargo ship with 3,941 breeding cattle from Australia arrived at the port of Yantai in Qingdao Customs District on August 19. Yantai Customs House ensured the smooth clearance in a special “green channel” by actively collaborating with relevant businesses as per ready-made working plans.

In accordance with China’s law and regulations on entry-exit quarantine for animals and plants, inbound animals such as breeding cattle must go through strict inspection and quarantine for a period of 45 days under customs control.

After 18 hours of customs working, these inbound cattle were all unloaded at the port and transported to a designated quarantine station in Yantai. Then, they will be under around-the-clock control by field veterinarians in the station for 45 consecutive days, including laboratory tests for animal diseases, with the substandard cattle to be removed from the selection.

After the quarantine period is over, these Australian cattle will be used to improve the quality of cattle breeds in China.
