Gongbei Customs Seizes Endangered Clams and Conch Illegally Carried In by Passengers

Customs seizure of giant clams and conch illegally carried in by passengers

 

On July 22 and 29 respectively, Zhongshan Customs House in Gongbei Customs District seized endangered animals and animal products illegally carried by inbound passengers. The seizure involved 4 giant clams, totaling 4,272 grams; 2 products made of giant clams, totaling 160 grams; 1 large conch of cassis cornuta, weighing 1,444 grams.  

 

On August 8, South China Wildlife Identification Center identified the aforesaid conch and giant clams to be endangered animals. Now, this case has been transferred to the Customs anti-smuggling department.
