Express-Mail Service Thrives in West Guangdong Province
01/01/2017

On December 20, at 7 am, when Zhanjiang Import/Export Express-Mail Control Center located in Mazhang District opened business, many trucks with international express mails entered the Customs control venue, and Zhanjiang Customs officers began their busy day.

Zhanjiang has large amounts of international express mails. Averagely 9,000 mails need inspection every day, but in November we had to process 16,000 mails each day as our normal working state, said Vice Director of Zhanjiang Customs-stationed airport office.

The Express-Mail Control Center was full of international express parcels piled for inspection. From January to November 2016, Zhanjiang Customs has inspected 582 mail trucks, 1.7 million import mails worth 298 million yuan; for November only, inspected 89 trucks with 283,000 inbound mails worth 40.39 million yuan.

Luo, head of Zhanjiang Postal and Courier Services Company, enjoyed the convenience and said: since express-mail import and export service started in Zhanjiang Customs, we have felt much more convenient than ever. The new Express-Mail Control Center has got us free from going to Guangzhou and Shenzhen for customs declaration, making timely local clearance of import mails and benefiting the public. Compared with before, we can now save at least 3 days in delivering a mail to final recipient through the Customs.
