On April 7, Vice Minister Sun Yibiao met with Mr. Fernando Rocha Andrade, State Secretary for Fiscal Affairs of Portugal at the General Administration of China Customs.

Both sides exchanged views on enhancing customs cooperation between China and Portugal. Vice Minister Sun Yibiao put forward three proposals for improving bilateral cooperation. Firstly, both sides should strengthen personnel exchange between both high level and expert level to enhance mutual trust and promote cooperation. Secondly, China customs is willing to push forward cooperation in the China-EU Smart and Secure Trade Lane Pilot Project with Portugal customs and is looking forward to Portugal’s full participation in the project in the nearest future. Thirdly, both sides should promote trade security and facilitation through enhanced cooperation in such fields as AEO mutual recognition, customs control over solid waste and cracking down on the smuggling of drugs and frozen products. Mr. Andrade agreed on the proposals, and expressed readiness to further promote cooperation under the framework of China-EU customs cooperation.
