03/19/2021

Recently in Nanjing Customs District, 16,335 wood logs (4,594cbm) were imported into Changzhou Port as the largest batch since 2003. During the import process, Changzhou Customs House took strict measures to prevent and control exotic pests, involving operational plan, field inspection, follow-up supervision, legal publicity, etc.

The imported logs, belonging to cryptomeria and Japan cypress, will be used to make furniture.

Changzhou Customs House conducted efficient clearance by means of big data analysis. On arrival of the cargo ship, customs officers immediately made surface quarantine onboard and then unloaded the logs to the quarantine station nearby for further quarantine against exotic pests.

Besides field inspection and follow-up quarantine, the control measures also include epidemic monitoring and daily supervision over the unloading/storing firms. Next, the Customs will review the monitoring records and videos of the quarantine station regularlys to assess the quarantine effects.
