Brief History
The Royal Customs and Excise Department previously known as Customs and Bea Department is one of the oldest government department. It was established in April 1906 and now it was already over 90 years.
The Royal Customs and Excise Department is under the Ministry of Finance since 1984.
Mission
To ensure that revenue collection is effectively carried out and that customs services are conducted in a responsible, transparent, fair and clear manner; simultaneously supportive of economic growth, and in compliance with national laws and regulations.
Functions and Responsibilities
This department have four main function and responsibilities:
1.To implement collection of the country revenue by levying taxes on certain imported goods.
2.To enforced customs legislation and regulations.
3.As a coordinating agency to other department in controlling the prohibited and restricted goods.
4.To facilitate the industries in order to encourage the flow of business activities and develop the country economy.
