[Xiong Zhenguo]: Faced with a large number of inbound and outbound passengers emerging due to the opening up and development of Hengqin New Area, the Customs takes some precautious measures and they have made adequate preparation. Firstly, we cooperate with local governments to further optimize the customs clearance environment in ports and improve the customs clearance capacity of the ports. [Xiong Zhenguo]: Major completed projects include new campus of the University of Macau (UM) in Hengqin, Hengqin New Home, Hengqin Qinyun Transformer Substation and Zhuhai Southern District Water Plant project. Projects under construction include Guangdong-Macao Cooperation TCM Science and Technology Industrial Park, Shizimen Central Business District, Hengqin Headquarter Mansion and Hengqin Bridge No. 2. Key projects under planning include Jinhai Bridge, Hengqin International Trade Tower, China Huarong Building, Crown of Beauty Hengqin Sycamore Tree Building, Intercontinental Shipping Center and others. 03/21/2014 10:35:35
[Wang Hua]: We can foresee that after those projects are completed, Hengqin New Area will be more beautiful and prosperous than now. Mr. Xiong, construction of those projects cannot be done without the Customs’ support. [Xiong Zhenguo]: A large number of customs staff has invested their wisdom, effort and devotion to the development and construction of Hengqin New Area. Let’s take the building of the UM’s new campus as an example. The Customs spare no effort in innovative supervision, flexible services, policy guidance and try every means to solve problems for enterprises concerned in the project, and are fully committed to services related to the completion and delivery of the campus. 03/21/2014 10:36:32
[Xiong Zhenguo]: For example, we made a customized and personalized supervision plan for customs clearance of materials for the new campus. A special working group and a UM supervision team were established. In Hengqin port and the new UM campus, special offices were set up on site to inspect and release building materials entering Hengqin New Area through a special passage. Furthermore, we sped up significantly the customs clearance for materials by innovating in supervision. As a result, the time of customs clearance for cement was reduced to 15 minutes from 40 minutes. Customs clearance efficiency and speed have been improved remarkably. 03/21/2014 10:37:01
[Xiong Zhenguo]: In order to ensure that the new UM campus is completed as scheduled, we promised to take speedy customs clearance measure of “52”, “Day and Night”, “Inspect goods as they arrive” and others. We adhered to the 24-hour on-duty system so that we offered services of booking for customs clearance and overtime inspection and release for building materials. Whether it is in hot sunshine or strong wind, and whether in heavy rains or muddy construction site, especially when various emergencies occurred, customs officers always rushed to the site at the earliest time to offer customs clearance services. Last year, the UM supervision team was rated by GACC as an excellent working group with the title of “Model of Customs Officers” for its outstanding performance. 03/21/2014 10:37:33
