[Qiao Jinming]: According to incomplete statistics, enterprises within Jiangmen Customs District, including the urban area of Jiangmen, Xinhui County, Taishan County, Kaiping County, Heshan County, Enping County, Yangjiang County and Yangchun County, have registered 188 valid IPRs with the Customs, with150 registered by enterprises located in the urban area. The registered types mainly include the exclusive right to use trademarks for food, electromechanical products, bathroom products and clothing, and a small number of patent rights and copyrights. 04/25/2014 10:30:34

[Qiao Jinming]: Customs IPR enforcement registration is a precondition for the Customs to take the initiative to protect, otherwise the Customs has no right to actively enforce IPR protection. [Liu Yang]: Guangdong has been a province with many IPRs in China. According to relevant reports issued by the State Intellectual Property Office in 2013, Guangdong’s comprehensive IPR development index and comprehensive patent strength index ranked the first in China. 04/25/2014 10:33:25
[Liu Yang]: To effectively implement Customs IPR enforcement, in 2013, Guangdong Sub-Administration exerted great efforts to a special campaign of cracking down IPR Infringements and counterfeits and enhanced cooperation with Hong Kong and Macao SARs in Customs IPR enforcement, with achievements made in relevant respects. 04/25/2014 10:34:06
[Liu Yang]: In 2013, the Customs houses within Guangdong Province seized 5,425 consignments of infringing goods, with a quantity of 21.31 million pieces and a total value of RMB 97.17 million, and also waged special law-enforcement campaign against faked products endangering public health such as infringing medicines and food, detected 7 cases involving fake medicines with a quantity of about 19,000 pills. From March to April, 2013, the Customs performed joint enforcements of cracking down on fake electronic products with U.S. Customs, seizing more than 30,000 pieces and more than 192,000 pieces of infringing goods to export to the U.S. and Hong Kong respectively. 04/25/2014 10:34:46

It shows that in 2013, the Customs nationwide detained 20,000 consignments of infringing goods, with a quantity of more than 76 million pieces. Upon calculation, we can see that the infringing goods confiscated by the Customs in Guangdong Province account for over 1/4 of the total seized by Customs nationwide. [Liu Yang]: Guangzhou Customs District has strengthened the investigation on motorcycles and related accessories, seizing about 140,000 pieces of motorcycle accessories infringing trademark rights of domestic proprietary brands “LIFAN” and “SANLG”, totaling RMB 1.02 million, which have received praises from the IPR holders. 04/25/2014 10:38:57
