Nice Life with Female Charisma - Focus on Customs Female Officers for March 8 Women’s Day
[Zhang Zhe]: Actually, I acquired such patience and considerateness from the elder. They expressed their love in their own ways. For instance, Aunt Guo lived a thrifty life, but she would go out of the nursing home to buy some peaches for me. It moved me much. Uncle Su expressed his love by keeping you at ease: “I will listen to you.” Their love, in turn, taught me how to love them. 03/07/2014 10:51:39
[Wang Hua]: Do your family and friends understand and support you? 03/07/2014 10:51:55
[Zhang Zhe]: My parents were on my side because I would tell them the stories of the elders in the nursing home after I got home. Furthermore, through getting along with the elders, I came to know how to understand and get along with my parents. 03/07/2014 10:52:49
[Zhang Zhe]: Some people around did not understand my volunteer work and asked: if you have time, why not do something else? But I think, I did not give much to the elders. I just accompanied them for some time, but they have given me the wisdom of life they have accumulated all their life. This was the reason why I participated in the voluntary service for the oral history by the elder later. They have so many shining points and valuable experience, which contain a lot of treasures that should be passed down. 03/07/2014 10:53:11
[Wang Hua]: Are there many stories recorded in the program of oral history? Can you tell us one or two? 03/07/2014 10:53:21
[Zhang Zhe]: There are really many stories, but surely, only a few of them have been recorded. The article, “Visible Happiness” written by me records the legends of the 94-year-old Aunt Ren in nearly a century. Her husband was then assigned by Premier Zhou to work in Tibet for construction of “Tibet Hospital”, and left her behind with three children. Her three children are now outstanding people in their respective fields. She went through the toughest period of the three-year natural disaster. We can see the toughness and greatness of a mother on her. 03/07/2014 10:53:48
[Zhang Zhe]: After the Cultural Revolution, her husband returned and stayed with her until he died in his 80s. She followed the last words of her husband, and never brought any trouble to the Party, and donated all the contribution fees to the research department. She doesn’t want to cause any trouble to her children either. She lives alone in the nursing home. Now she can still push a trolley to buy things in the supermarket and is trying to learn how to use the computer. She said she does not want to be left behind. She made me feel that happiness is not materials, complaints or takes; instead, it is contentment, gratitude and giving. 03/07/2014 10:54:08
[Zhang Zhe]: At the nurse home, I saw another old couple: the grandpa was 90 and the grandma was 87. The grandma has suffered from Alzheimer’s disease for 5 years and her memory seemed to be erased out. However, under the grandpa’s good care, she can sing, together with the grandpa, English songs for us. This is almost a medical miracle. It also helped me get the true meaning of the happy life between husband and wife. I must say love can make miracles. 03/07/2014 10:54:41
[Wang Hua]: For many years’ voluntary services, Zhang Zhe has been honored with many titles. So far as I know, she is not only the filial daughter of the elderly people without families, but also the sister of children in the disaster-stricken area and the Chinese angel for African children. Zhang Zhe, can you tell us the stories about the latter two titles? 03/07/2014 10:55:04
[Zhang Zhe]: I was given the title of the sister of the children in the disaster-stricken area because we held a charity bazaar for Wenchuan Orphanage at the Place, Beijing in 2008. It was Christmas Day. We stayed outdoors in the cold weather for five hours. This activity let me know the hands can really be frozen as big as carrots. However, I don’t know why I was not feeling cold at the site and there were many people joining us. Although we didn’t raise a lot of money, it showed the care of Beijing people. 03/07/2014 10:55:20
