Jinan Customs District - P. R. China’s Youngest Customs District
[Netizen: sole]: Hi, I am from Tai’an City, Shandong Province. A while ago, my foreign friend sent me something and then the Customs notified me to take them. May I ask where I go to take them? And Do I need to pay tax for them? April 17, 2014 10:05:03
[Liu Weiwei]: We have an office stationed in the post office in Jinan. It is located at No. 64, Jingyi Road. It is responsible for clearance, supervision and drug inspection of inward and outward postal items, printed materials, audio and video products and express mails. According to the state laws, with respect to personal mail, there are items prohibited from entering the country via mail. In case articles restricted from import by the State are mailed into China, the recipient is required to provide the appropriate documents to the Customs and go through customs formalities. The items allowed to be mailed shall not exceed the reasonable quantities for giving presents to relatives and friends and for self-use. Where the quantity goes beyond the reasonable scope for self-use, the excessive part shall be subject to tax. 05/09/2014 11:36:50
[Netizen: Jiu Ai Chi Shao Bing]: Hello, Ms. Liu, I will graduate this year. I wonder if you can tell me how I can get a job in the Jinan Customs District. What kind of talents do you need? April 17, 2014 10:04:39
[Liu Weiwei]: The customs business covers a wide range, so we need various talents and welcome talents from all works of life to join us. You can sit in the unified state civil service examination; if you meet the various conditions for recruitment, you can become one of the custom officers. Last year, we examined and recruited the first batch of 48 civil servants, and they started work last September. 05/09/2014 11:37:08
[Netizen: Lao Zhang]: I just heard you mentioned that the ratio of paperless customs clearance has declined, so will the paperless clearance be suspended next? When can this problem be solved? April 17, 2014 10:04:04
[Liu Weiwei]: As I mentioned earlier, the Party Leadership Group in Jinan Customs District has attached great importance to this issue, and reported to the relevant departments and bureaus of GACC, and taken active measures to coordinate and resolve the issue. Next, we will deepen the reform on regional clearance, popularize application of the measures in the relevant regard, and enlarge the scope of enterprises applying the operation mode of regional clearance via “local declaration and release”. By referring to the customs business integration between Being and Tianjin, we will endeavor to realize the integration of regional clearance between Jinan and Qingdao Customs Districts, break up the barriers between the districts, and thoroughly solve the current situation where Grade B enterprises cannot carry out paperless operation for regional customs clearance. We will accelerate the reform of paperless clearance for goods directly imported or exported through special controlled areas, mails, or airports within the Customs district, so as to raise the ratio of paperless operations step by step. 05/09/2014 11:37:49
