[Liu Weiwei]: Last year, considering the fact that Jinan is the place where smuggled frozen products are distributed in Shandong Province, we carried out the “Blue Action” against smuggling of frozen aquatic products. In this action, we filed 6 criminal cases with total value of RMB110 million, seized nearly 600 tons smuggled frozen products, and cut off a criminal chain of smuggling, transporting and selling smuggled goods from China-Vietnam boarder to Shandong, which echoed the anti-smuggling campaign of GACC along the Beilun River. 05/09/2014 11:16:36
[Liu Weiwei]: When checking the seized frozen products, we found that some frozen fishes stocked at the bottom of the freezer decayed, and if they had flowed into the market, they would severely impair the people’s health. For this purpose, we damaged these rotten frozen products according to the laws in public to prevent them from appearing on tables of the residents, and publicized the severe harm of smuggled food among the public. [Liu Weiwei]: Yes. This year, based on our anti-smuggling efforts last year, we implemented the GACC’s deployment of “Green Wind Campaign” to severely crack down on smuggling of agricultural product; as the smuggling of cotton is very prominent in Jinan Customs District, we have carried out a special campaign. Currently, we have filed 2 criminal cases with total case value of more than RMB56 million and involved tax of more than RMB16 million, and arrested four criminal suspects. This helps standardize the operations of cotton-spinning enterprises within the Customs district and promote industrial structural adjustment. 05/09/2014 11:17:51
[Liu Weiwei]: At the same time, we put more efforts to protect national security and ecological civilization, and strengthened the combat against smuggling activities involving no tax evasion. We have filed and investigated 2 cases about weapon smuggling and tracked down 5 imported smuggled guns; and filed and investigated 2 cases about smuggling of rare animals and plant products and tracked down 4.8 kg ivory products, 7 kg tiger-bone and 4 kg agilawood. [Liu Weiwei]: In 2014, we work hard to deepen the reform. The young Jinan Customs District is at the key stage of growth. This year, at the meeting of Directors General in the Customs District we have put forward the work objectives of building smart customs comprehensively and the work ideas of “adhering to the reform, strengthening scientific and technological support and comprehensively promoting the construction of Jinan Customs District up to a new higher level”. 05/09/2014 11:19:01
